Team Preview - Nova Scotia

For the first time since 1990, a team representing Nova Scotia will compete at the Presidents Cup Senior B tournament. The four-team Nova Scotia Senior Lacrosse League (NSSLL) was "reborn" in 2011 after being absent for several years. Now those teams will combine for one all-star team to show that the province belongs back among the regular tournament leagues.Privateers

Coached by Rod Humphreys of the Bedford Fighting Orangutans, the Nova Scotia Privateers will feature a roster of players from all league members, including 11 players from the league champion Halifax Hustle. Former New England College (NCAA Division III) and Dalhousie University (MUFLL) player Jamie Dunbar captains the group, one of several players with college lacrosse experience. Dunbar led the Twin City Arrows with 17 goals, 16 assists (fifth highest in the league) this summer.

Another player to watch is Dominik Pešek, a Czech Republic national team player, who was the league MVP. Pešek led all scorers scoring 29 goals and 31 assists in 15 games with the Halifax Hustle. The 23-year old, who has aspirations of playing full-time in North America, first arrived in 2013 scoring 62 points with the Victoria Jr. Shamrocks (BCJALL). He has also played with LCC Custodes Radotín - one of the top Senior clubs in Europe. At the prestigious Aleš Hřebeský Memorial tournament in April, Pešek led all scorers (16 goals, 6 assists in 6 games).

Mitch Hannigan (Fighting Orangutans) and Matt Cote (Hustle) will man the nets for the Privateers, who hope it will not be another 25 years before their next tournament appearance.
